3. Who writes the letters?

Letters Through Time ~ Across the Distance is created and written by Jeanie Zick, a genealogist, historical researcher, and writer.

4. How often will I receive letters?

Subscribers receive two letters per month, totaling 24 letters per year.

5. Can I start mid-year?

Yes! You can join any time. If you subscribe before the cutoff date (typically 10–14 days prior), you’re included in the next mailing.

6. What formats can I choose from?

  • Handwritten Letters
  • Each letter is presented in a handwriting-style font chosen to reflect the spirit of the character and the feel of the series. These editions are meant to resemble personal correspondence, offering a more intimate, old-fashioned reading experience while still remaining clear and readable.

  • Handwritten + Educational PDF
  • Includes the handwritten-style letters, along with an additional Educational PDF that explores the historical context, themes, and background connected to the correspondence.

  • Print Edition (easy-reading format)
  • A clean, readable print version of each letter for those who prefer a more traditional page layout. Though easier to read at a glance, these editions still retain the quiet, vintage feel of the series through thoughtfully chosen classic-style fonts.

(This is the format referred to as “typed” in the subscription options.)

  • Print Edition + Educational PDF
  • Includes the print edition of each letter along with the accompanying Educational PDF for readers who would like additional historical insight and context.

(This is the format referred to as “typed + Educational PDF” in the subscription options.)

Please note: Both editions contain the exact same letter text. The only difference is in presentation. Print editions may appear slightly shorter on the page because print fonts generally take up less space than handwriting-style fonts.

7. What’s included in the Educational PDFs?

Each Educational Companion includes thoughtfully selected materials such as:

  • Learning Objectives (grades 4–8)
  • Historical Background

  • Primary Source Excerpts
